Business owners are left open to being sued if staff get sick at work and small business is doing everything they can to protect their staff, their families and customers from infection. If an employee believes they had contracted COVID because their employer was at fault, either deliberately or through negligence, they may be able to sue their boss.
Workers Compensation cases are also set to rise as high claim numbers are already recorded in many states, the majority being in Victoria and NSW.
Workers are worried about returning to work, in particular, those with disabilities, chronic illnesses and the immunocompromised.
